The goal of Siemens Media Award competition is to reward quality and creative reporting in the field of technology and simultaneously to encourage excellence in investigative journalism that deals with the topics of technological progress and the importance of innovation, both in various industries and in everyday life. Media representatives and content creators on social media participated in this year's competition with works on the topic "Technology with a Purpose".
Marija Dedic's work deals with the rapid development of AI and raises the question of its impact on the lives of us all, as well as ethical guidelines and legal regulations in this area.
- We had the pleasure of participating in the organization of the Siemens Media Award contest this year, which was initiated in Serbia fifteen years ago, and since 2015 it has become regional. It is an even greater honor that this time the media contribution of a journalist from Serbia was declared one of the five best works in a strong competition of authors from as many as nine countries. The media serves as a public guide through the world of innovation and an interpreter of the latest discoveries, and quality reporting on modern technologies is crucial in today's rapidly changing environment. It helps us understand complex innovations more easily, also showing how they can improve our everyday life - Jovana Vukotic, head of corporate communications at Siemens Serbia, said.
This year, the international jury had the task of selecting the five original works that will directly qualify for the final stage of the competition in Vienna, Austria. Marija, together with her colleagues, the best placed authors from Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, will participate in the selection of the best work in Central and Eastern Europe. Five selected authors will attend the "Concordia Ball", a famous Viennese ball for media professionals. The winner of the Siemens media competition will be chosen at a gala event in the same city on May 24. The main prize is a trip for two to the Salzburg Festival in Austria.
