Detailed Route of Railroad from Zemun Polje to National Stadium Announced – “Park and Ride” from Future Singidunum Settlement
The border of the GRP of the railroad Zemun Polje-National Stadium encompasses that route of the railroad from Zemun Polje, through the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, and further to Surcin-Surcinska Street, that is to the National Stadium and then through the area of the municipality of Surcin toward Obrenovac.
The area covered by the GRP of the railroad Zemun Polje-National Stadium is around 660.11 ha.
The railroad is planned as a two-track railroad, electrified and equipped with modern SS and TT devices, with terminals for the needs of the passengers: Singidunum stop, Airport stop, Surcin stop and National Stadium rail station. The railroad is planned for passenger traffic, for train speeds up to 120 km/h.
– The planned section Zemun Polje-National Stadium will enable improved passenger mobility from/to the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, passenger mobility from/to the National Stadium and the area planned for EXPO and the connection of the residents of this part of the city with the city core. The construction of said railroad will incite the further development of the area through which it passes and additionally affirm and valorize the advantages of the rail track system in the system of transport services – the document says.
The planning design is defined based on the preliminary design of the railroad from Zemun Polje to the National Stadium, which was prepared by VS Infradesign doo.
The National Stadium station has 4 tracks and is the end station of the railroad in this phase. For the next phases, the possibility of extending the route toward Obrenovac has been left open, which will be the subject of a special planning document.
Stations and stops
Within the Plan of the railroad, meant for passenger traffic, on the section from Zemun Polje to the National Stadium, two rail stations and three stops are planned:
– Zemun Polje rail station km 0+000 (existing station on the main railroad Belgrade-Novi Sad-Subotica-state border)
– Singidunum stop km 7+270 (new stop)
– Airport stop km 11+030 (new stop)
– Surcin stop km 14+000 (new stop)
– National Stadium rail station km 17+800 (new station).
PARK and RIDE
In the zone of the Singidunum stop, a public parking lot of the PARK and RIDE type is planned. Considering that, in addition to the rail stop, there is also a bus stop in close proximity, as well as TAXI station, in this position, maximum intermodality between the various subsystems of public city transport is planned, both mutually and with individual transport (passenger cars).
Also, in the zone of the Surcin rail stop, in addition to the TAXI station, public parking with a capacity of 95 parking spaces is planned, which can function according to the PARK and RIDE principle.
The plan was commissioned by the Belgrade Land Development Public Agency, the drafting authority was the Secretariat for Urban Planning and Construction, and the plan was prepared by the Urban Planning Institute of Belgrade.
The public inspection will last until November 1.
