Ring Road Around Belgrade from Strazevica to Bubanj Potok Opens for Traffic – What Is Planned for Extension to Pancevo?
After more than 30 years of construction, from Batajnica to Bubanj Potok it will be possible to reach the motorway in full profile, that is, with a total of six traffic lanes, in a length of 47 km.
The project was financed 15% from the Serbian budget, and the remaining 85% from a loan from the Chinese Exim Bank, according to the website of the Government of Serbia.
As added, with the completion of this project, traffic is redirected from the overloaded basic network of city roads to the bypass, which contributes to shortening the travel time for transit flows, reducing the number of traffic accidents, the costs of vehicle exploitation, harmful gases and noise from vehicles in the inner-city area.
Although the ring road is now connected with Corridor 10 near Bubanj Potok, it has been announced that an extension will soon start being built, the so-called sector C from Bubanj Potok and Vinca, across the Danube, to Pancevo, in a length of 31 kilometers, in order to continue the traffic ring.
The construction of a combined road-rail bridge across the Danube, between the right coast of Vinca settlement and the left coast of the Starcevo settlement, as well as an extension of the Beli Potok-Pancevo railroad, in a length of 29 kilometers, is also planned.
On that stretch, the construction of two tunnels, Bubanj Potok and Lestane, as well as a large road-rail bridge near Vinca, is planned.
The works were performed by the Chinese company "Power China", the Azerbaijani "Azvirt" and domestic subcontractors.
Vucic emphasized that the section of the motorway from Cacak to Kraljevo would be completed next year, adding that the underground was also being built in Belgrade, whereby the first line would be completed in 2028, and the second by 2030 at the latest, it is added on the government’s website.
