The preparatory works for the reconstruction of the facility, which is expected to start upon the obtaining of the permits from the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments, have begun at the biggest congress center in Serbia, Sava Centar, which was acquired last year by Delta Holding.

The old furniture, equipment, archival material and documentation are being taken out at the moment.

– There’s plenty of mobile equipment there, such as bars, counters, kitchen equipment, light partition walls, old coverings which have rotted away. All this needs to be taken out as soon as possible – Delta says.

The reconstruction facility will be adapted to modern anti-fire regulations, and the works also entail the installation of new sound and video equipment in the sense of support to modern conferences, the modernization of the furniture, as well as the improvement of the acoustic properties.

In the past period, the Museum of the City of Belgrade has been conserving the artworks which were located in Sava Centar, taking them out and storing them in adequate and secure spaces.

The congress center, over 40 years old, was bought from the City of Belgrade by Delta Holding last November for EUR 17.5 million in the public bidding process where the company was the only bidder.
