Construction of railway-road bridge in Novi Sad approved - Investment worth 60 million euros

The Vojvodina Secretariat for Architecture, City Planning and Construction yesterday (August 5, 2010) approved the construction of a railway-road bridge across the Danube in Novi Sad, in which about 60 million euros will be invested.

According to the announcement, that bridge 474 meters long is planned to be built in the location of the former road-railway bridge also known as the Zezelj bridge.

Based on the preliminary project, the bridge will be 31.6 meters wide, and it will comprise two railway tracks, two road lanes, and two pedestrian-bicycle paths.

- The railway-road bridge across the Danube in Novi Sad is one of the most significant facilities on international railway Corridor 10 in Serbia and a capital facility for Serbia, Vojvodina and Novi Sad - it is stated in the announcement.

Construction of the bridge will be financed from the funds of the European Union in amount of 30 million euros, 20 million euros will be provided from the budget of Vojvodina, while 10 million euros will come from the budget of the city of Novi Sad.
