Project of High Speed Route to Connect Backa and Banat Initiated – At 100 km/h from Hungarian to Romanian Border in Four Lanes
This is a high-speed route through Backa and Banat that will connect Sombor and Kikinda and border checkpoints with Hungary and Romania, whose construction was announced last year.
According to the plan, this road is a branch of the primary network of roads of Serbia which should accelerate and make more efficient the existing routes on the main road from the Romanian border to Kikinda, Novi Becej, Becej, Srbobran, Kula, Vrbas, Sombor and the Hungarian border. The future traffic route within the system of the road network of Serbia is the main connection between eastern and western Vojvodina.
– The preparation and adoption of PPPPN of this infrastructural corridor will secure the necessary planning and spatial conditions for the perpendicular traffic connection along the east-west direction (Romanian border-Hungarian border) through the E-75 highway and the river Tisa as a promising international navigation route – it is specified in the planning documentation prepared by the PE Zavod za urbanizam Vojvodine.
As announced earlier, the construction of the route through Backa and Banat will cost 420 to 430 million euros.
