EPS miners excavate 17.5 million tons of coal in six months – Half-year plans fulfilled
The excavated amounts exceed the plan by 1%, and the production of coal in the Kolubara mining cuts and the Kostolac cut of Drmno in the January-June period was at the same level it was in the corresponding period of 2016, Grcic said while wishing a happy Miners Day, August 6.
He expects that the production plans in both the mining sector and the sector of power production and supply for about 3.5 million of EPS clients will also be fulfilled by the end of the year.
– Year after year, the EPS miners are showing that they are the toughest link in the chain of security of the Serbian energy system. Without you, the miners, who work under all sorts of conditions, 365 days of the year, in ice, rain, snow, heat, it would be impossible to secure a stable and certain production of coal and electricity in Serbia – he said in his address to the miners.
Grcic points out that EPS miners managed to fulfill half-year plans and compensate with their hard work for the delays during the winter period, when the ice wave and adverse conditions affected the excavation of coal.
The non-stop activities of the mining sector enabled improved production in thermal power plants, which are currently affected by a very unfavorable hydrological situation on the Danube and the Drina, but nevertheless manage to remain the backbone of the power production system, Grcic said.
