Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Zorana Mihajlovic attended today's ceremony of launching a new Russian diesel engine train that will operate between Belgrade and Vrsac.
In company with Russian Ambassador Alexander Chepurin and the representatives of Serbian and Russian railway companies, Ms. Mihajlovic traveled on the new train from Belgrade to Vrsac.
Serbia has obtained four new trains from Russia out of the total of 27 trains Serbia bought for USD 100 million from Russia's Metrovagonmash using the proceeds of the Russian loan of USD 800 million. All four trains will be in use as of today with two of them operating between Belgrade Danube Station and Vrsac, one between Zrenjanin and Kikinda, and the fourth between Zrenjanin and Belgrade.
Another 20 trains are expected to arrive from Russia by the end of 2016, while the remaining three should be in Serbia in 2017.
