By January 18, the Tax Administration identified 41,138 persons who received money from abroad, as announced by the Public Policy Research Center (CIJP) on its Facebook page.

They say that these are platforms such as Upwork, Bibo Global Opportunity, AirBnB, Booking, Payoneer, Skrill, Upwork and World Pay, and CIJP points out that they procured the information with the help of the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection.

They add that the response is nevertheless not satisfactory, because, instead of the information on the digital platforms which freelancers use, they got the information about the platforms used for payments and renting of real estate.

– Since we only asked about the information about the digital platforms on which freelancers work, this is not exactly the answer we were hoping for. Let us be clear that, judging by the decisions on the collection of the remaining taxes shown by the Association of Online Workers, Startit and Netokracija Srbija, the Tax Administration has no problem making a distinction between these kinds of platforms, but perhaps they have no time to list them, as they are busy sending new decisions – it is said.
